THREE KINGS' DAY
NATIONAL PALACE SINTRA
The videomapping installation show "Three Kings' Day" at the National Palace of Sintra, is a production by the Vortice Dance Company, with artistic direction by Cláudia Martins and Rafael Carriço, inspired by the three Wise Men—Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar—and their long journey, guided by the star, until they reached Bethlehem. The gifts they offered to the Messiah—Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh—and their symbolic meanings were also a source of inspiration for this creation.
The adventures of this long journey emerge from the imagination of its creators, who bring them to life on the silhouette of the Palace's exterior façade, in a play between architecture and color, utilizing in some parts the expressive power of its tiles to evoke the beauty of this ancient story.
