CARMINA BURANA

Carmina Burana is an exuberant and provocative approach to Carl Orff's musical work, in which the recent situation of confinement is recreated (Covid-19).

An exciting journey that begins with the entry of Fortuna in the monument (Monastery of Alcobaça, at the world premiere), where the characters are cloistered, delivered to their luck.

Situations written in the medieval tales are relived in a strenuous and cyclical way.

It is a piece where all the characters are corrupted by the pleasures of the flesh and by lust, which in a situation of confinement, sometimes takes on the dimension of madness ”.

It is a unique creation that combines the intensity of dance and performance with videomaping.

“It was a process of great demand and great physical, emotional and relational delivery from all the dancers, actors and ourselves.” Cláudia Martins and Rafael Carriço

SIC: Alcobaça Monastery is the stage for an "exuberant" Carmina Burana

Cláudia Martins and Rafael Carriço had 15 days to record a version of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, in which they joined videomapping with the dance in the cloisters of the Monastery of Alcobaça.
